The Clinical Study of the Free Flap Transfer by Microsurgery

Abstract
The microvascular transfer of free flap can provide excellent soft tissue and skin coverage and restore the function by one stage procedure.
We were studied in 33 cases from 1980 to 1985 in our Department. The results were as follows;
1. The most common used flap was latissimus dorsi flap of 18 cases.
2. The success rate of free flap surgery was 91%. The 3 cases were failed due to wide range of defect and venous thrombosis.
3. Microvascular transfer of free flap have many advantages compare to conventional skin coverage procedures, such as shorter therapeutic time, lesser physical and economic demands, and early social return.
4. The operation of microvascular free flap transfer needs abundant experimental and clinical experiences, and anatomic knowledge.
